Adrenaline junkies looking for a special thrill are heading to Inverness to take advantage of the city’s latest exhilarating outdoor experience.

Launched earlier this year, with help from Business Gateway, Inverness 4x4 Adventure offers visitors a breathtaking off road driving experience with the country’s highest ‘see saw’ providing the ultimate driving challenge.

Fiona Berry, director, said: “The business is doing well. My fellow director, Malcolm Mackintosh, started the company in February but things really began motoring in March.

“We have a range of courses and vehicles to suit every level of driver and as a result we have had everyone from kids to pensioners out in our Land Rovers and Suzukis. Some even bring along their own 4x4s to tackle the hills, gulleys and water splashes.”

When Fiona and Malcolm started out they knew that an effective marketing campaign would be critical to let people know they were open for business and that was when the pair turned to Business Gateway.
 
Fiona said: “Our adviser, Mark, has been great and has really helped us out with the marketing side of things and with networking. He helped us secure some much needed funding which has allowed us to get our signage and promotional literature sorted.”

Although the majority of customers at the moment are families, Fiona and Malcolm know that the corporate market will be crucial to move forward.

Malcolm added: “The family market is extremely important but we also offer corporate days out and 4x4 training for businesses. We have had a few companies out to look at the courses and soon as they see what we have to offer and hear the shrieks of laughter from the drivers, it’s a done deal.”

Despite the business being at an early stage, Business Gateway adviser, Mark Mackintosh believes the company has what it takes to succeed. “Inverness 4x4 Adventure is a great business and Fiona and Malcolm have the drive and enthusiasm to make a real success of the venture.

“It is important that the right support is available to them in the months ahead and as such we are continuing to support Fiona and Malcolm as they look to develop the business. “
