Lanarkshire-based Independent Financial Advisers Caledonia Financial Planning has brought a welcome boost to the local economy and also to a sector which has seemed in the doldrums recently.
Caledonia has not only taken on new and additional staff at their Hamilton headquarters, but has opened a new office in Edinburgh in the prestigious “New Town” area - rubbing shoulders with big international names in the commercial and financial world.
Alan Craig, Caledonia’s managing director, said: “This is a significant step for the company, but the investment is based on a clearly recognised need for top quality personalised advice for clients with high net worth.
“We have recruited very experienced and well qualified staff to operate from our new Edinburgh office, where the emphasis will be on investments.
The Company’s other services in respect of pensions, savings and mortgages will continue to be based at the Hamilton office.”
The Edinburgh office will be headed up by George Shepherd who has over 25 years of experience in working with this client group and was a founder member of Thomson Shepherd.
Shepherd said: “I am delighted to be joining Caledonia Financial Planning at such an exciting time in the development of the business. I believe that the new team at Edinburgh will help to drive the business forward, providing a high quality service to the existing client base and attract new customers from Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Perth and throughout Scotland generally.”
George will be joined in the new office by Lynn Healy who has an extensive background in Investment Planning for high net worth clients and was formerly a tax and trust manager for a Perthshire Legal Firm.
Caledonia Financial Planning was set up by Alan Craig and his wife Yvonne ten years ago and has continued to grow year-on-year since then. It currently employs 14 people and has longer term ambitions to open further offices throughout Scotland, increasing its coverage and reaching more clients with a full range of services.
Craig added: “The financial sector has taken a bit of a battering over the past two or three years. However, at Caledonia we have managed to buck the trend and develop our client-base steadily, adding new services as we go. We are absolutely committed to growing the business further, based on our fundamental principles of honesty, integrity and quality of service.”
